Museums and parks. These are the things that the vast majority, the Italians want to see arise in areas of the city where they live.
is a summary of an investigation into the relationship between Italians and the territory held by the Urban Network Representations. The search results will be announced as part of an important conference, "Municipium 2008", held in Rome next May. But the RUR has released the first results in relation to a topic as timely as ever: the attitude of the Italians than the construction of infrastructure in propria area di residenza.
Al primo posto fra i desideri c’è un museo (71,4%), segue un parcheggio multipiano (63,9%) e una grande costruzione in aree dismesse (56,3%). Ovviamente i giudizi si differenziano a seconda del contesto di residenza degli intervistati: in linea generale sono i cittadini delle grandi città quelli più favorevoli all'intervento infrastrutturale, sia esso relativo alle reti di trasporto che alla trasformazione urbana. Le maggiori resistenze sono dei comuni più piccoli che ritengono di subire l'impatto senza averne benefici.
Una divergenza che fa dire a Giuseppe Roma, Direttore del Censis e Segretario Generale della RUR, che «ci troviamo di fronte ad un nuovo conflitto fra città e campagna con i piccoli comuni e le zone periferiche in eterna opposizione contro qualsiasi intervento infrastrutturale, ma purtroppo favorevoli all'urbanizzazione diffusa di tantissime piccole casette».
